Ambar Lone Star Fluid Services has introduced DFX, an enhanced water-base drilling fluid that exhibits performance characteristics of synthetic fluids while eliminating the cost of cuttings processing and monitoring while minimizing the possibility of loss of circulation associated with synthetic fluids.
The DFX system incorporates a three component surface active chemical package that is easily introduced to a water base fluid and specifically addresses rate of penetration, shale stability and lubricity performance. The DFX system has been applied in a wide range of densities, temperatures, pH ranges, salinities and acid gas environments.
DFX, extensively field tested in a year-long collaborative effort with major operators on deepwater and shelf wells to 29,000', has consistently demonstrated excellent performance under a wide range of drilling conditions.
